Whether you want to lose weight, gain weight or simply live healthier: a healthy diet is important for any lifestyle. Would you like to create new, healthy habits to eat healthier? Check out some handy tips here!
Drink more water
Make it a habit to drink more water. We recommend drinking at least two litres a day. Drinking a lot of water, is very good for your health. It helps various organs function better. For instance, water promotes the removal of waste products by your kidneys.
Try a new recipe every week
Many people think that 'healthy' food doesn't taste good or has little flavour, when it doesn't at all. To discover this, set a goal for yourself to try a new recipe with high nutritional value every week. By doing so, you will get to know delicious recipes that will make you eat healthier.
Eat more protein-rich foods
Protein-rich foods make you feel satiated and are important for the functioning of your body. Protein can be found in foods such as eggs, nuts, chicken, fish and cottage cheese. Additionally, you can use protein powders that you can incorporate into your daily meals or drink as shakes.
Eat less added sugars
Sugar is not necessarily bad for you, but we often unknowingly eat too much of it. You can eat less added sugars by eating fewer processed foods and more foods with natural sugars, such as fruit. Start simple by putting less or no sugar in your coffee and tea. You can also choose to use sugar substitutes if you really can't do without.
Don't forbid yourself snacks
For example, if you follow a vegan diet, it makes sense to avoid eating animal products. What we mean by this tip is that it usually works against you to forbid yourself certain snacks or meals. Do you have an 'unhealthy' snack that you really like? Then give yourself space to enjoy it once in a while. It is not bad for you to snack sometimes as long as it is not too much.
